How to Review Nominations and Select Winners
Guide for committee members and program managers to review nominations, evaluate nominees, select winners, and bring a nomination program to completion.
Who can use this feature
Requires the Super Admin admin permission.
Who this is for
Committee members and program managers responsible for reviewing nominations and choosing winners in a nomination program.
What you'll achieve
By the end of this guide you'll know how to access the nominations for a closed program, evaluate nominees and their supporting reasons, select winners (awarding them points), and bring the program to a close.
Before you begin
You have the Committee or Manager role on the nomination program
The program status is Closed (nominations are no longer being accepted)
The program has a configured points per winner value and sufficient budget
You can view nominees and their nominations while the program is still active, but winner selection is only available after the program closes. If the nomination window hasn't ended yet, wait for the close date or ask a manager to close it manually.
Steps
1. Open the Nominations tab
Navigate to Admin settings β Programs β Incentives and click on the nomination program. Switch to the Nominations tab. You'll see a table listing every nominee who received at least one nomination, sorted by nomination count (highest first).
Each row shows:
If the program is still active, you can browse this view to get a sense of who's being nominated β but you won't be able to select winners until the program closes.
2. Review a nominee's nominations
Click View on any nominee to open their detail panel. The left side shows every nomination they received, including:
Who nominated them (name and email)
When the nomination was submitted
Why they were nominated (the reason text, if the program requires one)
Use this information to assess the strength and breadth of support for each nominee. A single thoughtful nomination with a detailed reason can be just as compelling as multiple nominations β it depends on what the program is designed to reward.
3. Select a winner
When the program is closed and you're ready to make a decision, open a nominee's detail and look for the Select winner section on the right side of the panel.
Write an announcement message β this is required, and will be shown on the completion feed card when the program finishes. Make it meaningful: explain why this person won, or highlight what their nominations revealed about their contribution.
Click Confirm to finalize the selection.
Winner selection is immediate and irreversible. Points are credited to the winner's balance the moment you confirm, and they receive a notification (email and Slack DM). Double-check your choice and announcement message before confirming.
4. Repeat for additional winners
If the program allows multiple winners (controlled by the Max winners setting), repeat the process for other nominees. The budget decreases with each selection, and you can track the remaining balance on the Budget tab.
Once you've reached the max winners limit or the budget is exhausted, no further selections can be made.
5. Complete the program
After the committee has finished selecting winners, a manager can click Complete on the program header. The completion dialog asks for an optional showcase link β a URL (for example, an internal announcement page) that will appear on the feed card alongside the winners.
Once completed, the program is permanently locked: no further winner selections, no setting changes. If Program visibility is on, a feed card announcing the winners posts to the workspace Home feed.
What to expect after
Winners receive their points immediately on selection β they don't need to wait for the program to complete. The completion step is about closing the book and optionally broadcasting the results to the wider workspace.
If the committee decides more nominations are needed before making a final call, a manager can Reopen the program instead of completing it. Reopening sets a new close date and allows new nominations to flow in, while preserving everything already submitted.
Common mistakes
The "Select winner" section doesn't appear β Winner selection is only available when the program is closed. If the program is still active, wait for the close date to pass (it auto-closes) or ask a manager to close it manually. Also confirm you have the Committee or Manager role on the program β Finance members have read-only access.
I selected the wrong person as a winner β Winner selections cannot be reversed. Points are credited immediately on confirmation. If this happens, contact a workspace admin who can manually adjust the winner's point balance, though the winner record itself remains.
The budget ran out before all winners were selected β Each winner costs the configured points per winner amount. If the budget is exhausted, a manager can top it up from the Budget tab without interrupting the review process. Once topped up, you can continue selecting winners.
I can't complete the program β Only Managers (not Committee members) can complete a program. If you're on the committee, ask the program manager to complete it once your selections are done. The program must also be in Closed status β you can't complete an active program.
A nominee I want to select has no nominations showing β Only people who received at least one nomination appear in the Nominations tab. If someone you expected to see isn't listed, they either weren't in the nominee audience or nobody nominated them. You cannot select someone as a winner unless they have at least one nomination on record.
Pro tips
Review as a team. If multiple committee members are involved, coordinate before selecting winners. Any committee member can make a selection, and it takes effect immediately β there's no approval step between committee members.
Use the announcement message well. This text appears publicly on the feed card. A specific, genuine message ("Aisha's cross-team mentoring was cited by 6 different nominators") lands better than a generic one.
Check nomination diversity. A nominee with 3 nominations from 3 different teams may represent broader impact than one with 5 nominations all from the same team. The nomination detail panel makes this easy to assess.
