How to Share a Recognition on Social Media

Share a recognition with your social network using a link, direct social buttons, or by downloading the preview image.

Who this is for:

Any employee whose workspace has recognition sharing enabled.

Any public recognition in your workspace can be shared outside PraisePal. The share dialog gives you a preview image and a link you can post to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or anywhere else β€” and on your phone, the system share sheet lets you send it to any app.

Before you begin

Sharing must be turned on by an admin. If you don't see a Share button on recognitions in the feed, your admin has disabled external sharing or your workspace plan doesn't include it. Two types of posts can't be shared regardless of settings:

  • Private recognitions β€” these are only visible to the sender, recipients, and admins.

  • Celebrations β€” birthday and anniversary posts don't have a Share option.

Steps

On desktop

  1. Open the share dialog β€” Find the recognition in the feed and click Share. A dialog appears with a preview image of the recognition.

  2. Pick how you want to share β€” The dialog gives you several options:

    • Copy β€” Copies the share link to your clipboard so you can paste it into any post, message, or email.

    • LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter β€” Opens that platform's share window with the link pre-filled. The platform pulls in the preview image automatically.

    • Download β€” Saves the preview image as a PNG file to your device.

  3. Post it β€” If you used one of the social buttons, write your caption in the window that opens and publish. If you copied the link, paste it wherever you like β€” the platform will generate a preview from the link.

On your phone

  1. Open the share dialog β€” Tap Share on the recognition. A bottom sheet slides up showing the preview image.

  2. Share or download β€” You have two options:

    • Share β€” Opens your phone's native share sheet, where you can pick any app (LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Messages, email, and so on). PraisePal pre-fills a short title with the link.

    • Download Image β€” Saves the preview PNG to your device, useful for posting the image directly on platforms like Instagram Stories.

What to expect after

The shared link takes anyone who clicks it to a public page showing the recognition β€” including the names, message, and your company logo. Visitors don't need a PraisePal account to see it. When the link is pasted into a social platform, the platform's link preview shows the recognition image automatically, so your post looks polished without extra work.

Share links are permanent. They don't expire, so a recognition you shared six months ago still works.

Common mistakes

Pro tips

Download the image

For platforms that don't support link previews well. Instagram Stories, Slack messages, and internal chat tools often display a pasted image better than a link card.

Anyone can share any public recognition

Not just the sender or the recipient. If a teammate's recognition stood out to you, share it.
