What Happens to Your Points and Rewards When You Leave

What happens to your earned points, pending rewards, and recognition history when your PraisePal account is deactivated — and what to do before your last day.

What this is

When you leave your company, your admin deactivates your PraisePal account. Once that happens, you can no longer log in, redeem rewards, or give recognition. This article explains what's preserved, what's lost, and what you should do while you still have access.

Why it matters

Points you've earned in PraisePal have real value. Once your account is deactivated, those points are frozen. They're not deleted, but you can't spend them yourself. The window between knowing you're leaving and losing access is your chance to act.

How it works

Your earned points

Your point balance is preserved when your account is deactivated — it isn't wiped or forfeited. You simply lose the ability to access it. If your admin ever reactivates your account (for example, if you return to the company), your full balance becomes available again.

That said, your admin can manually adjust your balance at any time, including after deactivation. Some companies choose to deduct unredeemed points during offboarding as part of their own internal process.

Pending gift card redemptions

If you redeemed a gift card before your account was deactivated but haven't received it yet, it's still fulfilled as normal. Gift card processing continues regardless of your account status.

If the gift card would be sent to your work email and you're worried about losing access to that inbox, contact support@praisepal.com to request delivery to a personal email address instead. Send the request from your PraisePal account email so we can verify your identity.

Your recognition history

Recognitions you've sent and received remain visible to your former teammates. They're a permanent part of the workspace record and aren't removed when your account is deactivated.

Monthly Allowance

Your monthly Allowance — the points you use to recognise others — resets on the first of each month and doesn't carry over. Any unspent Allowance at the time of deactivation is simply gone, as it would be at the end of any month.

What to do before you leave

Redeem before your last day. Once your account is deactivated, you cannot redeem rewards. There is no self-service way to regain access.

If you know your leaving date, use the time you have to:

  • Use any remaining points. Browse gift cards and custom rewards at Rewards in the sidebar. For a walkthrough, see the related article on redeeming rewards.

  • Request a delivery to your personal email if needed. If you've already redeemed a gift card and expect it to arrive after you lose access to your work inbox, email support@praisepal.com from your account email to arrange delivery to a personal address.
